Celebrating small wins

I almost didn’t post this, but I think it’s important to celebrate a win, even if it’s a small one (and even if it is tinged with slight disappointment!).

Recently I entered an Open Call for an online exhibition, open to any artist over 18 from anywhere in the world. The exhibition is called Art Matters 6, and is curated by Galerie Biesenbach in Cologne, Germany. This gallery shows a lovely selection of abstract artists, whose work I really admire, so I entered with a bit of trepidation.

After the judging process I received an email telling me that although I had missed out on selection for the final 15 for the exhibition, I had made the cut to receive an Honourable Mention and to be featured on the gallery’s instagram stories, along with the successfully selected artists and others who were also awarded an honourable mention.

To be totally honest, this was both great and at the same time quite disappointing - but there will be another Art Matters open call in future and I may well try again.

In the mean time, I’m chuffed to have been given this (sort-of) ‘award’ and need to celebrate it as a win! Here is the painting I entered - Spatial Memory 3. I’m really proud of this one!

Spatial Memory 3

This painting will be available on my website soon, when I release the whole of my new Spatial Memory collection, probably in the next few weeks or so - it depends how long it takes me to complete the last ones and get all the photos taken.
