Selected as a finalist in the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award 2023
I’m really happy that my painting ‘Arising’ has been accepted as a finalist in the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award 2023. It will be exhibited, and for sale, in the exhibition at Te Köputu a Te Whanga a Toi, Whakatäne Library and Exhibition Centre from 5th February - 19th March 2023.
This is a bi-annual art competition for artists from across the country. There are 50 finalists this year, selected from 454 entries.
Right now I’m not sure if I’m allowed to show the artwork online, before final judging has taken place, so I’ll just show a snippet of it - which is as much as the awards organisers have shown online! I’ll update this image with a full one later.
EDIT
Full image now shown below. I didn’t win a prize, but I did get a nice mention in the judge’s floor talk.
If you’re interested in seeing the floor talk (and view all the finalist’s entries) you can see it here, my painting comes up just after the 41 minute mark if you want to hear what judge Leafa Wilson had to say about it.
