Waiheke Art Award 2024 - I’m a finalist
Yay! My painting Unfinished Business has been selected as a finalist in the Walker & Hall Waiheke Art Award 2024. This is the second time I have been shortlisted for this award. My painting will be exhibited at Waiheke Art Gallery from 18th October - 8th December 2024. All paintings will be for sale.
This is a national award for two dimensional works and the judge this year is Mary-Louise Browne.
I will add a full image of my selected work here after the judging has been completed and the exhibition has opened, but for now here is a sneak peek.
UPDATE: full image added below
When life is feeling a bit chaotic I channel control into my art, usually resulting in precision (and that gives me a great deal of satisfaction!). . . . . but this painting was a conscious effort to let go. Traces of my usual detail remain, but also playful chaos. And no, that’s all paint, no tape left on there — so perhaps it’s not quite as spontaneous as it looks, but it was really fun to create - and to play with a different type of illusion.
You can see more detailed images and information about ‘Unfinished Business’ painting on my website here after the exhibition has opened.
