These paintings are derived from sketches and photographic notes I’ve taken when I’ve been out an about - or even just staring out of my window on a sunny winters day. There are 4 small paintings in this series currently - see the last image for them all together. I’ve been living with them together on my wall at home for a wee while, and I really like how they ‘talk to each other’.
If you look closely at the edge of this one you’ll see the egg-yolk yellow underpainting peeking out. It’s a subtle detail that you only find on close inspection, but I like that - it provides the balance of precision, detail and accident that I’m looking for in my work.
