These paintings are derived from sketches and photographic notes I’ve taken when I’ve been out an about - or even just staring out of my window on a sunny winters day. There are 4 small paintings in this series currently - see the last image for them all together.
I’ve been living with them together on my wall at home for a wee while, and I really like how they ‘talk to each other’. I’ve also noticed that this one (inadvertently) uses a shade of purply-grey (or mauve) that I very much associate with my Grandma. And now I’ve noticed that every time I look at it I think of her. I love how colour, and smell and music, can have such strong memories associated with it
If you look closely at the edge of this one you will see bits of cobalt blue peeking out from the underpainted layer.
