These paintings are derived from sketches and photographic notes I’ve taken when I’ve been out and about - or even just staring out of my window on a sunny winters day. There are 4 small paintings in this series currently - there’s one image showing them all together. I’ve been living with these together on my wall at home for a wee while, and I really like how they ‘talk to each other’.
This one is particularly tricky to capture the colours accurately - in the same way that it was really difficult to get the final colour balance right when I painted it - probably because the two colours are almost complimentary, so they play tricks on your eyes. And depending on the time of day the sunlight has quite an effect on how you perceive the lilac/grey colour in particular. I like how this gives it a bit of a life of it’s own! Of course, your screen will affect how the colour displays too.
